Validento's research group. We work on identity and document verification that is reliable, measurable against published standards and respectful of the privacy of the person being verified.
Make trust possible between people and organisations across borders, without anyone having to give up their privacy.
The hardest deals to trust are the ones that cross a border: a passport, a payslip or a registry extract from another country, in another language, in a format nobody has seen before. Our goal is that the answer — this document is real, and it adds up — is equally reliable in New York, London, Madrid or Tokyo, and arrives without the document having to be seen or stored.
When there is something to tell, it will appear here.
We research reliable identity and document verification, measured against public benchmarks rather than our own yardstick. This is what we work on — not how.
How to tell a genuine document from an altered one, for formats from any country, with accuracy that can be measured.
How to confirm that the person behind a document is who they say they are, without keeping images.
How to give a reliable answer — "this document is real, and it adds up" — while retaining as little data as possible, for as short a time as possible.
How to measure performance reproducibly, against public benchmarks rather than our own yardstick.
We publish results when they are ready and when we can; part of the work is in the process of being protected and is not described here.
If you are a researcher or an expert in any of these themes and want to test our approach, challenge it with your own data or do research with it, write to us. After a first conversation we agree per person on the scope, confidentiality and what is shared.
Come back soon — or leave your email and we'll let you know when the next test round opens or results are published.
We are always looking for people who want to work on these themes — full-time, per project or as an academic collaboration. Tell us what you work on and what you would like to build.
